Keane, a leading provider of hydraulic fracturing services, sought to address the challenge of unexpected equipment downtime at frac sites. The company recognized the need to leverage data visualization techniques to monitor site production effectively and mitigate potential disruptions. To achieve this goal, Keane partnered with Curtis Consulting to develop a robust Equipment Health Monitoring (EHM) system.
Curtis Consulting led design thinking workshops to solidify project milestones, deliverables, and oversee the front-end user interface development team implementation. The result was an application platform with engaging visualization that renders data in an informative way, currently saving the customers of the client millions of dollars daily by managing downtime and receiving early warnings before issues occur.
Shell Oil, a global leader in the oil and gas industry, recognized the need to streamline and modernize its lubrication planning process within plant environments. The traditional method of manually recording equipment locations and maintenance schedules using pen and paper was inefficient and prone to errors. To address this challenge, Shell Oil engaged Curtis Consulting as a UX Design subject matter expert and consultant operating on-site & remotely for the Shell Agile Hub, to develop a user-friendly and efficient solution named "Lube Planner."
Curtis Consulting performed Service Design that provided organizational and behavioral considerations including user research and usability testing while also designing the initial iteration of the Lube Planner mobile application to map the locations of equipment in need of daily, weekly, monthly, yearly service.
BP (British Petroleum), a global leader in the energy sector, sought to streamline its database creation and management processes across business units. The existing system lacked flexibility and required extensive involvement from the corporate IT department, leading to inefficiencies and delays. To address this challenge, BP engaged Curtis Consulting to develop a user-centric solution named Unified Database Setup and Management System (UDBSL).
Curtis Consulting developed a design solution based around a contextual search which unified the consoles, providing a solution to the question of navigation and creating and environment in which the data returned could be manipulated and filtered for use in the relevant console based on user need. The design solution had to incorporate three dimensional (3-D) graphical elements which were essential in the interaction with the data.
The Wal-Mart financial decision making tool needed to be updated and "modernized." The solution Curtis Consulting provided streamlined this process via a wizard and dashboard that took the review process from a months-long endeavor to one that could be completed within ten minutes. Implementing the wizard and dashboard reduced the time spent researching data, allowing the Users to improve their decision making by focusing on analyzing the data available.
Additionally, Curtis Consulting worked with the development team to design an interface that allows the client's internal buyers and external suppliers a real-time view of available products. This tool improved the supply chain between the company and the retailer, giving them reporting tools, a means of filtering products by brand name, sales or other metrics, and provided the ability to make purchase orders to re-supply store and warehouse locations.
